Job Description:

The ideal candidate is a strategic leader who will promote and represent the Mission of the organization, deepen community partnerships, effectively manage day-to-day operations, align the different program areas, and successfully build a diverse and sustainable funding model.

The Director is a staff leadership position responsible for the overall management of CAMP YDP’s programs, operations, finance, and staff.

Summary of Position

  1. Build your team by hiring, training, supervising and inspiring passionate, committed educators. 

        Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Supervise preschool, after school and summer camp staff.
  2. Hire and train new staff.
  3. Provide training and professional development opportunities for staff.
  4. Help staff resolve conflicts between children.
  5. Assist staff in communicating with parents.
  6. Model teaching and excellence through classroom presence.
  7. Conduct quarterly reviews with staff to ensure best practices are being implemented.
  1. Actively engage and collaborate with local agencies, community groups and organizations to facilitate partnerships and community building. 

       Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Join Paterson Alliance and network with nonprofit leaders.
  2. Maintain and build on current relationships that CAMP YDP has with existing partners.
  3. Develop partnerships with business leaders and organizations in the community.
  4. Collaborate in programming with other organizations.
  1. Inspire each child’s potential through an innovative curriculum, inclusive environment and strong family partnerships.

       Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Develop educational programs and set educational standards.
  2. Establish policies and communicate them to staff and parents.
  3. Cultivate deep and authentic relationships with parents, students, and staff.
  1. Effectively manage the finances and facility to ensure CAMP YDP’s program operates to the maximum benefit of its students.

         Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Submit all deposits, payroll and invoices weekly to GNJ account representative.
  2. Review monthly financial statements to monitor CAMP YDP’s income and expenses.
  3. Make recommendations for expenditures and revenue streams to CAMP YDP’s board of Trustees.
  4. Monitor the physical plant and programming to ensure that CAMP YDP meets state standards for licensing.
  1. Design and implement robust recruitment campaigns to increase and retain student enrollment. 

       Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Develop informational materials that are inviting and exciting.
  2. Market CAMP YDP to diverse populations in Paterson.
  3. Identify locations to advertise CAMP YDP.




A Community Association with a Ministry to People (C.A.M.P. YDP) is a 501 (c) 3 organization that was founded over thirty years ago and continues to remain steadfast in its mission to provide high quality affordable childcare to the children and families on the Northside of Paterson.  CAMP YDP serves close to one hundred children ages 2 1/2 – 13 years in its preschool, after school, and summer day camp programs. At CAMP YDP we believe in the value and uniqueness of each child we serve. We trust children learn best when their learning is rooted in a familiar cultural context; that’s why at CAMP YDP we strive to foster innovation, embrace teamwork, appreciate diversity, and communicate openly and productively to ensure that each student is working at the pace that is unique to their needs.


C.A.M.P. YDP believes that demographics do not determine destiny!  We educate and equip children to become lifelong learners, critical thinkers and productive 

Preferred Skills:

Qualified candidates will be thoroughly committed to the mission of CAMP YDP and have proven leadership, administration and relationship building experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Two or more years of teaching experience or working with children from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Creativity and flexibility in implementation of curriculum and programming.
  • Excellent understanding of non-profit finances, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations in non-profit sectors.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to oversee and collaborate with staff.
  • Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteers, donors, and stakeholders.
  • Bi-lingual is a strong plus but not required.
